when they knew it about the sandusky dais and if they did enough to stop it. an independent group led by former fbi director has been investigating penn state's role for the past seven months, they will be released this morning at 9:00. the report is expects to reveal if former football coach joe paterno and other top penn state officials tried to hide sex abuse allegations involving sandusky. the report is expected to be up to 200 pages long and focus on school officials and the role school culture may have played in allowing the abuse to continue for so long. >> committed to ensuring that our independent investigation be conducted in a thorough, fair, comprehensive manner. leaving no stone unturned. >> reporter: and we've also learned penn state's president will hold a press conference sometime this afternoon to respond to the report. linda so, abc2 news. thanks. well, we expects to get a

closer look at new evidence in the trayvon martin murder case later on this morning. a special prosecutor will make that information public it's going to happen around 10:00 today. the "orlando sentinel" reports that the new evidence includes an account of a private investigator hired by the martin family. we're also going to see a transcript of what zimmerman told police the sixth times that he called them in the months leading up to the shooting. his next court appearance happens in about a month. until then, he's staying in a safe house. well, closer to home anne arundel county police chief james teare plans to retire on august 1st. he faced a lot of criticism. the decision to retire comes after the union and council voted no confidence in him. county executive john leopold appointed davis as the acting chief of police following the retirement by teare. fire chief rather james clack is going to make more money. the board of estimates approved

a pay raise. he will receive incremental salary increases each january through 2018. the raise request comes at a time when two fire companies were forced to close due to money problems. authored one is set to close in october. well, democracy 2012 today this morning vice president joe biden will speak at the naacp convention in houston. yesterday presumptive presidential candidate mitt romney addressed the group. he explained why he believes he is the better of the two candidates but when he mentioned his plan to repeal the health care reform law the reangst was less than stellar. >> i'm going to eliminate obama care and i'm going to work to reform and save -- [ booing ] >> now governor romney knows he does have a problem with

should be for this time of the year. we look maryland's most powerful radar right now and we are dry. the anything happens it already more to the afternoon time frame but all in all we should be dry for today. now the forecast trend because we can see the temperatures pretty steady as we go through the next seven days but then heat things up. it is going to be hot as the humidity makes its way intact the picture. a check now of the abc2 timesaver traffic with line cook. good morning how are the roads? good morning lynette. up fortunately a lot of accidents. trouble on 895 with a crash southbound at potee street. more problems on the jfx with another accident northbound right at gillford avenue. there are no delays traveling southbound though into the city. if you are traveling on the beltway, here's a look at the northwest corner at old court road. traffic picking up on the outer loop and that will continue as you make the push down towards edmondson avenue.

father morn a principal. his body was found last week in a florida canal with a bag over his head and duct tape covering his mouth. police have arrested two teens who they say confessed to beating, binding and gagging norman possibly for money. norman worked for the anne arundel county school system from 1961 to 1989. he was the first principal at chesapeake high from '76 until '83. and an auditorium was named after him. former students say the lessons norman taught have stuck with them. >> it doesn't matter what you had done. what trouble you could have gotten into, whether it was your mouth in my case, it was usually that for me. he knew there was another reason i was mouthing off to a teacher. it was because you know something was going on at home. >> reporter: now details of the scholarship that's being set up in dr. norman's honor still being worked out and we'll let you know more as we get it. linda so, abc2 news. funeral arrangements have

been made for alec cosgarea, he was a standout swimmer from the high school and he died in a car crash mondays night. he was profiled last year as a young entrepreneur who made things out of duct tape. his coach says he was a real gem who always did his best in the classroom. his teachers say he was a quiet leader. a mass of christian burial is saturday at 10:00 a.m. the cathedral at 5200 north charles street. the search for a new baltimore city police commissioner continues this morning officials say they have come up with a blueprint to improve the department. the fraternal order of police created a plan in which they say it will cut down on crime and taxes. union leaders say that the department needs to enhance recruiting and officer benefits if it wants to continue its success in cutting violent crime. >> you have an fop here saying we don't need more police. what we need is better policing, a better deployment of our resources, and taking better care of the police officers on the street who got

lovely sunrise reasons again this morning with -- sunrise this morning with plenty of sunshine. that should be the name to have game and beautiful in mount airy. beautiful blue skies and look at the sun rising across the horizon this morning. so make sure you get out there enjoy it. we see the satellite and radar showing you what's going on. yes we have some clouds to the south. mainly some high level clouds. as we look up more to the north and west, we are seeing more clear skies and more sunshine filtering in with the wet weather to the south of us and that's the courtesy of the stationary front that's been with us basically all week long. we look at the moisture content for today. and we like these low 60s. these upper 50s. well, drying out just a little bit so i'mgoing to call it less humid than yesterday when we were seeing the dew points the measure of the moisture in the air in the mid 630s to around 70 degrees. now we look at the weather pattern and we can see that high pressure is going to be in control of our weather for today. for the most part. basically squashing that stationary front even more to the south than it has been. and with that keeping the
